January 2012

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012

How exciting it is to begin a New Year with you and your children! Last year was truly amazing and I think this year is going to be even better! The animals all enjoyed their new toys and treats and we hope the children are using their calendars to record memorable moments and fun times. All the Classical CD's will be listened to at rest time! THANK YOU! I hope you had a great Holiday like I did, visiting and traveling with family. 2012 Here We Grow!

It's been fun getting back to school and listening to the children as they tell us about their Holidays. Great Stories!

Getting back to gardening has peaked their interest as they see how much their gardens have grown while they were away. One child thought his would be dead but was pleasantly surprised to see all was well and even a few new strawberry flowers! That's something to come back to!

The weather has been wonderful for planting and eating and the children are busy doing both! Snow peas, yellow carrot seeds and more transplants have gone in and they have been snacking on spinach leaves, rainbow swiss chard, Herbs, and Asian lettuces. It's amazing at how many choices the children are making - healthy choices! 'Snackscapes' - a good idea for children and animals! Beginning next Friday, you can harvest Herbs and your child's garden for the table on the weekends!

The children had fun selling the processed chickens to you and are ready to replace them. Baby chicks will take 6 months to get eggs from so I am thinking we could buy hens that are laying. A trip to Callahans would be educational and each child could make another choice and choose a chicken! THINK ABOUT IT!

In the Children's House, the children are back to making their USA maps and working with the Practical Life materials. A play dough table has been added so the children can stand to roll out their dough - I don't know a baker who sits when he/she kneads, do you? Reading 3-letter words and having new library books read to them have kept us busy inside.

There will be classes on January Holidays.

There's 5 new 'dirty' photos added for you on the Pictures page: ENJOY!
